Second Time Problem With Desktop Xp Pro,

By therealjakesweet ·
Hi .. this I hope is a simple fix .. I was running a AVG virus scan this morning and found some java/byte verify stuff fixed it .. no prob with your great community of members input in threads .. thanks .. but I have some kind of issue with my desktop now ..there is a "blue" vertical bar with "folder tasks" ...."other places"...."details" all listed .. they seem to be active when i click a folder on my desktop .. they tell me info about the folder etc.... But it was never there before is taking up desktop space looks like crap ..(makes my babies pictures pushed off to one side) and for some reason won't allow me to drag desktop items over into the recycle bin .. i can still delete them by right click .. but not by dragging .... this is the second time i have run into this issue the last time i had to just ghost the hard drive and do a whole new install to remove it ... I would really love some help .. it should just be some tab somewhere... please

Have you tried a System Restore?

To do this left click on Start, then go to Show All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools then System Restore. You might have to go back a few days/weeks and try to restore from there. If it works you'll most likely need to download any AV product definitions and any MS Patches that have been applied since the restore point.
