secondary IDE controller (dual FIFO)

My computer is having trouble seeing my IDE. I have tried to load my drivers from drivers.com for this LG CD. But still, it will not recognise it, The cd occasionally works though. It is using two drivers at the moment
c:\windows\system\iosubsys\esdi_506.pdr
c:\windows\system\vmm32\ios.vxd
but it says device is either not present not working or drivers not loaded (code 10)
Can you help please. I have tried registry (noide)
and also BIOS but to no avail.
