Secondary Router Configuration for WIFI extender

    by shrespratul ·

My main router IP address is 192.168.100.1. And secondary router address is 192.168.1.1. what should be the IP address of the secondary router so that it can be configured as a wifi repeater. I have changed it to 192.168.1.2 but it didn’t work. Any suggestions. Main Router is Huwaei HG 8245H and the secondary router (Extender ) is Digicom DG-ZA204M.

But you should check the router manual to see if it supports this configuration.

1, The second router address IMO should NOT be x.x.1.1 but out there say at 200 to avoid issues with the first router’s DHCP pool.
      2. The second router setup seems to be one where you one ONE LAN. If so set the IP as noted in step 1, then disable the second router’s DHCP server/service.
      3. Finally the hardwire connection would be from an Ethernet LAN port of the first router to a LAN PORT of the second router.

But after all this I see the Digicom is NOT A ROUTER but some DSL-MODEM+ROUTER which is not something I expect to function as an externder.
