Securing NIS

I have HP-UNIX 11.0. What steps can I take to secure NIS on our HP server.

NIS was not designed to be secure. You can either turn it off or isolate your network.

You might look at the first option carefully. NIS does good things for you if you have many servers and you need to keep their logins, host files, and so on all synchronized. This is probably NOT what you want in a secure environment -- you probably want to explicitly allow access only to certain people on certain machines.
