Security

I am at my wits end. A few months ago, my Windows 2000 server stopped letting wireless clients into it's folders. It happened all of a sudden, like it was tied into a security patch update or something. If you are hard wired to the network, everything is fine. If you are wirelss, the 2000 server ONLY will not let you into it's folders. It doesn't seem to matter if the laptop is running Windows XP home or Pro. This is a problem since the engineering folders are on this server. Has anyone heard of this or heard of a patch that has a problem like this? I have had a couple f companies look at the problem and spent a couple of thousand dollars on it to no avail. Help!!!

Check settings on the Wireless Base station, someone may have misconfigured Firewall on it or block File and Print Sharing (see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;298804&Product=win2000)

I use two Cisco Aironet 350 Access Points. Nothing on them has changed.

I would look at things other than wired v. wireless that may be different. For example, are the wireless machines frequently disconnected from the network for long periods of time? If so, it may be a problem with machine or user account authentication on the domain. Have you checked the event logs on both the wireless machines and the server to see if there are any clues there as to what's going on? Particularly I would check the security logs on the server as well as the application and system logs on the server and wireless PCs. Do you know what the companies you had looking at the problem checked?

Hope this helps...These are just a few ideas. Knowing what has already been tried would help.
