I have several user that only have user rights to their desktops. They cannot install any apps that make registry edits outside of the profile. Is their a way to prevent the installation of apps within the user profile. Software like webshots, chats, gator, etc are causing several problems with our desktops. These types of software can be installed by a users that does not have administrative rights. How can I prevent this?

Suppose you're talking about NT Workstation or W2K Workstation. Then, yes, you can restrict most of the damaging behaviour:
Set NTFS read-only rights on most of the C: drive, e.g. on C:\windows\Program Files.

This eliminates most damage. There is still some possible damage left, there are two other types of tools (on web and on Windows shell) which limit this. More info by e-mail when U need it...
