security center

By gaurav_maniin ·
The norton antivirus is installed in my computer and in the security center it was showing that windows is able to recognise the antivirus but after few days, one day I found that security center is notifying me that it cannot find any antivirus installed in my system. After seeing this I installed the norton and then reinstalled it again but it is still showing the same security center at the right bottom corner of the task bar giving warning that antivirus is not installed. So I want to know what is the problem?

If you did not keep it current with definition updates, you may have contracted a virus. Or Norton may have expired, is that possible?
There are several virus scan sights available on the Internet, I believe Symantec has one. You can also download Stinger from: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
It is a good stanalone virus scanner.

Microsoft did not allow for Symantec security to appear properly (be detected) in the security center. This way, you will get these remiders that you need AV, so that you will purchase MS AV product.
My advise is to set the security center notification to (I have installed 3rd party antivirus). This is what I have had to do in the past.

my friends are using the same norton antivirus and in the security center it is showing the status of antivirus installed and the same software I have been using for one year. and the notification i got nearly 10 days after installing it before that security was able to find the antivirus.

I have the same problem...

I have had the same problem recently with multiple AV programs that I've tried.

I had windows live one care on, and this morning when I turned on my computer security center would not recognize a firewall and anti virus, and I was not able to turn either on.

I un-installed live onecare and installed AVG8 and now I can turn my firewall on but it still won't detect AVG as an AV program..
