security log - log in ID verification for remote logins?

By dknichol ·
Running winxp/pro desktop.
How do I verify an ID login from a remote access on the security log? I am tracking possible hacks or malware attempts. Is this a "How do I - 'DUH' that was simple like me?" Or should I just username "simplelayman?" Thanks!
No I am not wireless.
