I know this may sound stupid....but are you checking properties for folders in Network Neighborhood or NT Explorer? Nt Explorer is where u wanna be. Also, are you logged on with an Admin account? Did anybody else change your group privs or settings?Virus protection active? Did you try a re-boot? Good Luck.....
1. NT Explorer. Yes, I am logged on as an administrator. I have full administrator rights. I do have virus protection but has always been real-time protection, which I was running when this occured.
First, go to the User Manager and check your logon account. Are you still a member of the Administrator or Domain Admin. If you are not and there is more that one administrator in your location, then it is positive that the other administrator must have alter the accounts permission.
Let me know your findings and i will try to guide you through.\
I have full administrative rights. I cannot edit any security permissions on my hard drives, but the strange thing is is that I can edit my icons in my start menu | programs group.
Did you perhaps change security settings on some files/folders before you left that day? I've never heard of this happening, but I looked it up on TechNet and ran across an article - see if it helps - if you don't have TechNet, go to www.microsoft.com/technet and look up the article number: Q193826. If this is what happened and you didn't change the permissions by mistake yourself, I'd say someone is playing tricks on you. . . Good luck!
Seems to me, you've lost ovnership over those drives or the group "Everyone" is listed in ACL, and has disabled access. Sometimes that might happen. Don't worry, there is a way to fix up the situation: 1. Run a program \\WINNT\system32\winfile.exe2. Select your lost drive on a drivebar (click on an icon); 3. Select from the menu "Security -> Owner"; 4. Click button "Take Ownership". Now, you should see the security tab in your Exploder . If you still don't, check "Security -> Permissions" to see if "Everyone" has listed. Take it out, or change the permission.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.

I have NT 4.0 server and I'm on my PDC. What happened and how do I fix this. Normally I could fix this myself, but I am stumped. Please help.
