Understanding router Security

I live in small town in Costa Rica. I have my own router in the house that picks up it's signal from a tower located only 300 yards behind my house. Help me understand security. No one has access to my router other me.

When searching online, can anyone pick off my search information from the tower located behind my house. I want to make sure I do everything I can to secure my searches?

Are there any settings in my router that can hide or secure my searches?

So I can see my question when I log into my account. I can also see that my question was answered. What I can't see are the answers. There is nothing that is prompts me to receive answers. Matter of fact, I cannot read any answer to the questions on this site. I guess the only way to reach me would be through Private message since I cannot read the answers. Newbie here, be gentle.

It's a site issue. TR has just undergone a Upgrade a couple of weeks ago and the Kinks are still being worked out.

The Head Moderator seems to have done something to your question as they are now being shown as asking it which was probably somehow clearing things up and when a answer like this is posted you should be notified by a E Mail.

As I have not asked any questions I'm not sure if that is working or not but I believe that the site was undergoing Maintains when you posted your reply so that most defiantly would have affected what you see or more importantly what you don't see.

Hopefully things should be right now.

And in answer to your question I suppose it tis possible that the Authorities could gather your browsing Data from the tower but the reality is that they have far easier ways of getting it and far cheaper for them so it's very unlikely that your usage will be tracked that way.

As for someone not involved by the Government getting your Browsing History no it's not very likely and the Government would just ask your ISP to provide them with the required data.

However having said that depending on how you are connecting to the Modem it may be possible to listen in any any traffic between the computer and modem if you are using a WiFi Connection as that type of connection very rarely is encrypted and even if it is if the person listening in has the SSID they will see all traffic as clear text.
