Seeing windows 95 workstations on Networ
Lockedby singhjunk · about 25 years ago
Is there anyway you can see windows 95 workstations in Network neighbourhood. All that I see is that just NT workstation’s and only one 95 Machine that has a printer attached to it. Any ideas if yes, how and what steps do we follow.
Thanks

For Windows 9X to show up on network neighborhood, it needs the Microsoft Files and printer Sharing installed on the Network Neiborhood Properties. That’s why the machines with printer sharing shows…
Good Luck!

Make sure that the windows 95 workstations are in the same workgroup as the NTmachines. Right click Network Neighborhood. Go to Properties, Identification, and check Workgroup. Hope this helps.

As mentioned above you must have file and/or printer sharing enabled in the Network Control Panel, but you will also want to make sure that the NetBEUI protocol is installed and bound to your Win95 client’s NIC. Another thing to consider is securitytype as set in the Access Control prop page. I am having this problem right now: Some Win95 pcs will not share properly to NT workstations when set to User-level ( get access denied error ), some Win95 pcs can’t get the User list from the PDC at all. Share-level works fine all around but you have to set seperate passwords for Read-only and Full-access if you want any security at all…
Good Luck!
