a free .avi to mp4 converter, preferably one that will work on both Linux and Windows. Windows the primary concern. Thanks in advance!

but in the product reviews I read that it leaves commentary on the film unless you buy the full package.

been able to find a truly free one. I've also used a few engines and trialed a couple. It looks like you may have to part with a couple of bucks. The trials are mostly limited to five minutes and I would't like to have advertising on my movies. Someone else may come up with something. :)
