Self disabling DNS Server
LockedThis seems odd to me too. Twice I have had a client’s network shut down with the same problem. A cascade of service startup failures begins with the DNS service (on a fine Dell Poweredge 1100 running Windows 2000 SP3 Server) failing to start. When I check the startup properties of the DNS service it is of course stopped and the service startup parameter is set to disable. Now I know I did not set the service start to disable and I don’t believe anyone else in this small office even knows how to find it let alone change it. Can anyone suggest a reason why the startup of this service might be self disabling? And if not self disabling, what might be causing the service startup to become disabled?
Thanks one and all.
