send broadcast to users

By EPAIT ·
Hi,

My manager would like me to implement a pop up message to remind users to record and release their time at log on. I created a batch file with the net send command and put it in the Group policy folder logon area. The actual command I use is "NET SEND * Please remember to enter and release your time". I am new to NT coming from Netware so I only know how to broadcast to the entire network with the "*". I tested the logon and when anyone logs on to the network, it will send a broadcast of the message to all users from the user who logged on. Users did not like this..... Is there a way to point it only to the users logon and not anyone else. Or is there another way to send this message.

thanks,
Rob

Net send computername Please remember to enter and release your time.

just create a line for each computer you want the message sent to.

What you can do is to use the %computername% variable in the command. The command would be |net send %computername% "Please remember to enter and release your time"| This will only send the message to the computer that the user is logging on to.
