By A_Dasy_Cat ·
I am very new to Linux and I am trying to send a mail message from my Linux Server(Redhat v2.1ES) to an exchange mailbox - Exchange 2000 server is on the same domain.

HEllo,

Try to setup sendmail on linux as "Smart" relay host.
The line in sendmail.cf is

# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DS

For me it is working well with exch 5.5

change the exchange ip entry in hosts to something not in dns, e.g. mail.<domainname>
change the sendmail.mc smart hosts to the same and make sure in daemon options that the Addr is equal to the ip address.

hope this helps
