Send To Mail Recipient include signature

By terickson ·
I have some users who would like to have their signature automatically appear in the body of the email when they use the "Send To" option in a office application. I know they can just add it manually, but...? Thanks

To add a signature when sending Word documents using the Email command in Word (File | Send to | Mail recipient), create an AutoText entry for each signature. You can then insert them with the Insert | AutoText command.

When using the Outlook editor, you need to use the Insert | Signature menu to change signatures.

Have the users set up signatures in Outlook? Are they using Word for their e-mail editor?
After the signatures are set up in Outlook, the user will have to choose the signature they want to insert into the e-mail by going to Insert -- Signature -- < signature choice >

You could add a special icon on the toolbar that would make it a one-click option. Not too difficult to accomplish with a little trickery. Check out the Help files for a custom button on the toolbar.

They have a signature setup and they have word selected has their editor. They just wanted the signature to appear in the body when they select Send To> Mail recipient(as attachment) in an office app. They know the can select Insert>Signature. Two clicks too many, i guess.

I was just wondering if anyone figured out how to just have the signature appear without going to Insert/Signature. Thanks.

Hi,

I created a visual basic script replacement for the normal MAPIMail send to link. The script works with XP and Outlook 2007 (not sure about others).
You can see the whole story and get the code here: http://smmeyer.com/scribble/?p=48.
I hope it works for you.

Sending from Inside Office?

by spchester In reply to

Stephen,

Thanks for that script. That certainly does the trick with files you want to send from Explorer. I just tested it in Outlook 2003.

Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this same result with files from inside of Office? I.e. I'm in a Word doc and want to send to mail recipient as attachment.

Thanks,

Scott.

My defaults for Outlook include a signature and tracking options for delivery and read receipts. When I send from office or an application I would like these defaults to apply as well. Sending attachments from an application creates a better message (subject, attachmnet name etc. but it ia time consuming to reset the defaults)
