"Send to" - problem

By quake ·
I have recantly removed office97 suite (on win9 from one location (path) and reinstalled it on a different partition.
Now when the user right clicks on a file and goes to "sent to" it's supposed to create a new mail mesage. Instead it pops up "file not found, choose a different location". I browsed to the correct path and pointed it in the right direction. It worked fine, but only for that one time. Everytime, the user tries it, the dumb office97 looks where it used to be installed.
I tried reinstalling and changed all the paths I could find in the registry, no luck.

Where in win98 is the default path for office97 stored?

I tried setting the path in autoexec.bat, but same thing.

Help anyone?

I hope this isn't a blinding flash of the obvious (if you've been playing with the registry you may have already tried this too).

Did you change the default paths in the Office programs' Options menu? Under Word, it's in the File Locations tab, and on the others it's in the General or Advanced tab (depending on the program and version).

My other suggestion is to look for the Send To folder in the Windows folder. In the Send To folder are the shortcuts that are used when you click SendTo. Check the properties of the "Mail Recipient Using Outlook" shortcut and ensure it's pointing to the right path for Office.

Good fortune,
Don

Go to \Windows\Send To\ folder, create new text file and rename it to "Mail Recipient.MAPIMAIL" (without qoutes).
You also may specify any name to it - the thing is .MAPIMAIL extention - this tell MAPI to create a new mail message. Works on any WIn32 OS.
