sending messages to win95 pcs through se

By akhan ·
I work on a mixed network of win95 and NT pcs. I use server manager to send messages to users connected to the domain. However, the win95 pcs do not receive the messages, only the NT pcs receive the messages. What do I need to do to have the win95 pcs receive messages through server manager.

The only way you can send Windows NT server manager messages to Windows 95 clients is to have the WinPopup.exe program running on the win95 client you are sending the message to.
-you can have the user start the winpopup program by typing WINPOPUP in the RUN command line when you want to send a message to them.
-Or place a shortcut to the WINPOPUP.exe in the Startup folder under %systemroot%Windows\programs\startup
folder. And then configure the program to start MINIMIZED under the shortcut properties Dialog box. So that the program will start every time the user logs on in minimized mode in the start bar.
-Or you could set up a Policy in NT to start the program everytime a user logs on so the user can not mess with the Startup folder.

if you have any other question email me at above email address.

We found a replacement for MS's winpopup (The executable is also called winpopop) on the web that doesn't have an icon on the taskbar. It runs in the backround. We configured it in the policy to startup when Windows starts. There is also a version that has a try icon and lets users send messages to one another...
