Serial Activation/Deactivation/transfer software?

Hi there

I am looking to release a piece of software that I want to protect from piracy (obviously) but at the same time allowing the user to deactivate and transfer a license across pc’s…

So, does anybody know of a piece of software that will enable me to do the above?

Is to limit the number of times a Product can be activated and allow the customer to contact you for further activations if required.

Anything else is open to abuse.

… except, I have no idea what they used to do it with.

The program I use allows you to remove a license from one machine and restore that license on another machine after you’ve contacted the manufacturer and given them the new serial number. He then sends back a new registration number to tie the old license to the new serial number. The software is leased on an anual basis, so the licensing on the new machine will expire when it’s supposed to, rather than the clock starting all over again.

Where you log onto their Server to register a product and no matter how often you reinstall it you only get the original Activation Period of 12 months for that product.

Not really what was asked for but it may be useful.
