I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to share a serial port of a computer over a network. I have a time clock connected to a serial port on a computer and that computer is connected to a network. I am curious if I would be able to share this serial port over my network, so other computers can route through this particular computers serial port to access the information stored in this device. Is this possible? The only way I could access this device over my network by other computers is by utilizing PC Anywhere, very slow, but it works. Is there any other solution to my need that I am unaware of?
