Serious Printing Issue

By teddyrux ·
I have a Netware 5 server, Win2k workstations running client v4.8, and a custom Foxpro program. I have 1 ws that will not print to 1 print q from the Foxpro program. I've reinstalled the printers, client and I've deleted and recreated the print q. Any advise?????????

Does the workstation print to that printer queue when not using FoxPro? If yes, then something is happening within the FoxPro software. If no, then there's a Windows issue that needs to be resolved at that workstation.

Have you tried re-installing your FoxPro application?

How do you print? To LPTx? Then maybe you could try using the timeout parameter (ti=xx with capture.exe). Or try another port, just for that PC.
Is anything ending up in the printqueue at all? Or is it just sitting there and never gets printed?
Do you get any message (printing succeeded, printer error) from the program?
Does another user on that WS have the same problem?

If you are working with Visual Foxpro, it should work with whatever your default printer is.

If your version of Foxpro is 3.6 or below, you are printing to a DOS port, and you need to have specified being able to print from DOS when you installedthe printer.

Try the following:

1. Delete the printer from your Printers folder.

2. Go through the Add New Printer wizard and re-create the printer. When it asks about printing from DOS, make sure you enable the option. Make this the default printer.

3. Print a test page at the end of the dialog. Make sure it prints. If it does not, Foxpro is not the issue.

4. Open a command window. In the command window, type
dir >prn:
and hit Enter. You should get a directory listing on your printer.

5. Try the Foxpro application. If you have a print setup option in the application, make sure the correct printer is selected.

Good luck.
