Server 2000 Hangs on data transfer

I’m having a problem with my file server running windows 2000 server. Whenever I pull a large amount of data, 1 gig or more, off of it it hangs. I’ve ran performance monitoring and have found no abnormal cpu, memmory, or disk read write usage. The performance monitor will even hang for up to a minute at a time off and on while I’m transfering the data. The system is running a 800mhz pentium 4 3.2 extreame addition. 1 gig of ram. gig ethernet card (also on the machine I’m pulling to)Anyone have any ideas? I’m pulling my hair out over this one.
