Question

Locked

server

By wesley.chin ·
Would it be wise to hookup a scanner with a server computer? I think the computer is running Windows Server 2008.

On what is running on the server. But if users are going to be using it, I wouldn't do it.

there is some kind of accounting software installed on the server computer. people access it remotely to record time spent on projects. but other than that, the computer is not accessed at all.

No! No! No!

If the server is set up correctly, regular users should NOT be able to log on to the server anyway. DON't CHANGE THAT.

Users should not even have physcal access to the server. Move it to a LOCKED room/closet/basement. Of course one with adequate ventilation and cooling.

If you need a decent shared scanner, look at purchasing an HP MultiFunction with Network Scanning ability.
