Server-Based Rules In Exchange 2003 SP2

By artcabot2 ·
I've been asked to set-up an audit of an e-mail account so that all mail from a particular domain will forward to another mailbox transparently to the receiving user.

Is there a way to do this at the server in Exchange 2003 SP2?

Server-Based Rules In Exchange 2003 SP2

by matthew.newman In reply to Server-Based Rules In Exc ...

In the configuration of the users container in AD there will be a section called Exchange General.

Within this there is 'Deliver Options' and something called 'Forwarding Address' - enter the other mailbox users name there and make sure 'Deliver messages to both address and mailbox is ticked'

Too General

I know about this option, but it forwards ALL mail. I'm looking for something that, like an Outlook rule, can forward based on the sender's domain only --- and do it transparently to the receiver. If not for this requirement, I could just configure an Outlook rule on their account.

Forwarding Address option - question:

by kollin In reply to Server-Based Rules In Exc ...

Does the forwarding address option retain the original received timestamp, original sender:email_address, and original to:email_address when forwarded to the second user's mailbox?

For example:

11/25/07 1:57pm
From: john.doe@doe.com
To: jane.smith@smith.com

This is "forwarded" to steve.jones@smith.com

and does Steve's inbox summary show the above info, or does it now read:

11/25/07 2:01pm
From: jane.smith@smith.com
To: steve.jones@smith.com

??

Thank -you, I found what you're mentioning here. BUT It seems to be a existing contact inside the AD. Any suggestion on how to forward on an external email address ?

Mail From A Given Domain

by artcabot2 In reply to domain or particular user ...

Just mail from a given domain. In other words, mail to User1 from me@thisdomain.com would be transparently copied to the administrator while mail to User1 from them@xyz.com would slide on through normally.
