Server Consolidation & Printing

By LonelyAdmin ·
I am currently consolidating servers and I need a way or utility to change each client 9X workstation to point to a different server printer port. I would like to do this from a logon script to avoid a visit to each PC. Example:
\\Server1\HP2000C to \\Server2\HP2000C

The best way is to actually sent the link via e-mail and instruct your users to double-click on the link, click on Open and click on Yes. It should install to their workstation automatically. Also tell them how to delete the old path because it no longer exists.

I have been around for a couple server changes and use HP4000 series printers. I agree with answer number one. We encountered several problems with the users printing after each change. We found that with each time we have changes the servers we had to go to each machine and clear the local printer drivers. That way the PC was forced to pull the newer drivers from the server. Just incase you run into that after the change.
