Hello all,
I have been asked to do a discovery on an existing network that has 27 servers. The servers that are in question run WINNT and W2000. I have been asked to determine what is nessecary to move the network into the future – ie new servers, better allocation of drive space, DNS etc.
What are some tools that I could use to help make these decsions? I know this is limited information, but I will get more if needed.
I plan on doing a hardware and software inventory w/ versions, service paks and firmware noted. I also will do a IP inventory to determine if a new scheme is required. Im not sure at his point if AD is in use, but I know that it will be before this is completed. They currently use a remote DNS server, so I will beadding a new DNS server to the mix at some point. Any thoughts on that?
