?? java script error - perhaps.

by databaseben In reply to server error

?? java script instability??

i was posting a comment on someone's question/thread. and when i clicked the submit button, a new browser tab was created and i saw the form was slightly different. however, i didn't think nothing about it and clicked the submit button again.

after i reviewed the op's question and didnt see my comment, i re-created the comment again and clicked submit.

again, a different input form appeared and my data automatically populated the fields.

because i am using a 64 bit pale moon, it all happened lightning fast. so in one second in i was seeing the input form for commenting. then the next second, the form was slightly different but my data was the same and in the appropriate fields.

in any case, it was then that i saw the form was the ask a question input form and its title "ask a question" was obscured by my browser toolbar

subsequently, i tried flagging the posts, but your server kept coming back with page not found. "page not found" is not uncommon for me to see on my end.

subsequently, i removed my data and inputted "server error" and gave up on answering that particular question.

not sure what the problem it. perhaps its a java script error but not sure as to why clicking submit executed "ask new question" and then automatically populated its fields with the data i had entered against the op's question.

hope this helps.

incidentally, even as i edit the data above for clarity and grammar, i am seeing screwy results.

the "answer the question" input fields appear below and the "comment" field is populated with the information above and appears editable.

the only difference between this section and the section below is that one has a save button and the other has a submit button.
