Server Explorer Lockups

Due to the 1000 character limit of this forum, I have posted my question to an html file at the following location.

I felt the 1000 charcter limit would leave my discription too vague to get good answers. So if you would like to help, my question resides at the following location.

http://www.ccountry.net/~protool/techrep/techrep.html

Please post answers here. Thank you for any help you can provide.

A couple of thoughts: Check Arcserve logs to see if anything strange is happening. I have one remote site that should be finishing its backup at 6AM at the latest but it's still running and I can't even get into the log to look.

Also check Diskeeper for any inappropriate behavior.

I'll check back to your site for updates.

Ok first question when did you go to SP6a? I know several people have had problems with this SP. I assume you've reapplied SP6a just in case something got corrupt and to update the additional printer drivers that you added?? Have you updated your virus software and ran a full scan on the server lately could be a virus...

I would look at getting the latest JetAdmin, and possibly using WinAT from the NT Resource Kit for your automation. WinAT works with the built in AT (Automatic Timer) service, and *could* be in conflict with your other automation/scheduling app.

Also, tap [Ctrl][Alt][Del] and bring up the Task Manager. Is there any one task taking an exorbitant amount of CPU time?

Hi,
A few of things come to mind that might help you solve your issue. You may have already tried these.
1. Restart the computer with your setup disks and try running a recovery on it. This may require an up to date Emergency Recovery Disk (ERD).2. I beileve you can run a reinstall and keep the registry settings.
3. Run a full installation. Your programs should still be okay, but you may have to reinstall some. Also, you'll want to make sure you have your settings information on paper because you will loose some of them.

Good luck,

Al

Update the JetAdmin software if applicable. Also verify that the firmware on the jetdirect cards is current. Have seen older HP cards cause alot of network conflicts and use alot of server resources.
