Server not shutting down / restarting

by hollomere . Updated 23 years, 2 months ago

We have a brand new server here (Compaq Proliant ML350) that is installed with SBS 2000 + service packs. Inside is a Compaq 40/80Gb DAT drive, 3 x 36Gb SCSI drives (Hardware RAID 5), NIC etc etc

If we have just SBS running, the server shuts down/restarts fine.

When we install Veritas Backup Exec (v9) the server refuses to shut down or restart – it finishes unloading Windows, goes to a black screen with the cursor flashing in the top right corner.

There are no errors in the error log, all the patches for SBS and Veritas are applied and we have tried it with either the Compaq DAT driver or the one the Veritas attempts to install.

There are no hardware conflicts, IRQ problems or unknown devices. All the hardware is upto date drvier wise and this is a fresh installation of SBS / Veritas.

We have installed another Compaq (admittedly a ML370) and this had no problems at all.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Regards
