server reboot loop

By sramia ·
I am experiencing a problem with a Compaq Proliant ML370 which is rebooting on it's own at different intervals. Sometimes it will reboot during the SCSI device search and other times it will reboot after logging on to the network.

server reboot loop

by Joe Mis In reply to server reboot loop

This really could be anything, but it seems likely to be a hardware problem since it soemtimes restarts before the operating system loads. Honestly, your best bet is to call Compaq Support. It also could have something to do with your environment. Is the machine on a UPS? Do you have any known electrical power problems in the room? Is is on a dedicated circuit, or is it on the same circuit with a big copier or some other large device? Does the room get very hot?

Things to think about...

Best bet is that the processor fan is out / defect.

Forget to connect the processor fan cable into the appropriate jack in motherboard ?

The problem was isolated to the power supply, which is proprietary and not readily available in an emergency situation. I recommend that if you have a Proliant ML370 that you keep a spare power supply in stock, otherwise your server will be down for 24+ hours.
