Server room disaster recovery/prevention

by wbailey . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

Hello,
Although backing up data & imaging servers is helpful, the thought of our server room sprinkler system going off and destroying our servers, routers and switches is quite disturbing because this equipment is not easily replaced! A Halogen System (instead of normal sprinklers) for the Server Room was quoted for us at $69,893 (would solve the problem but may be too expensive for us). So, my questions are:
1. Do you have a sprinkler system or some other fire prevention system in your server room?
2. If you have a water sprinkler system in your server room, how could you recover if damage was done to most/all of your equipment?
3. Are there any “non-damaging” (cost effective) solutions to replace a sprinkler system? Halogen seems expensive.

Thanks,
Will
