server threw an exception error

I have downloaded 2 unrelated (compressed) installation “.exe” files. After I execute them they run for abit then give me this error “the installation cannot continue” “the server threw an exception” One file being a new
video driver from ATI & the other is a Online game called Knightsonline. The online game file works fine for others poeple I know. I have even downloaded these files from different systems & read them from CD, still getting the same error.
I know the Files are ok. Something in my system is not accepting these 2 files. (perhaps there are more, but I have not come across any others yet.)
