Servers and Email

By dlathers ·
We are moving to on-line registration and part of that function is to send an e-mail to the end user at the completion of a purchase. We have a win 2003 serve and operate without an exchange. We are having difficulty getting the e-mail function to work and have been told by our software company that the email is going to a "bad" mail box c:\inetpub.

Can anyone help

Servers and Email

by Briansc30 In reply to Servers and Email

The folder you are talking about (c:\inetpub) belongs to IIs. It can be used to send emails of the type you are describing through an smtp protocol without actually having an email server. But, that will only work if both pieces of software are set up to work together. If they are not set up that way you will have problems. I would recommend that you find someone close who is familiar with IIS setup to properly configure your server for what you want it to do. Or have your software vender set up their software to use an email account on what ever email system your company is currently using.
