Service Control Manager (NT4 Wks)

By Paul G. ·
System Event Notification service is failing to start because (according to Control Panel Services Applet) a dependent service has either been deleted/removed or marked for deletion.
Event log states that System Event Notification service will not start because a dependent service: Event<something> does not exist. Apparently I need to reinstall the service (executable?) that is no longer there.

Where can I find the dependent service (executable?) for re-installation?

On the media from which you installed the software in the first place.

Did you recently installed something that triggered this problem? If you have you might want to reload the service pack. Certain drivers/programs overwrite files installed by the SP which need to be reinstalled by re-applying the SP.
Hope this helps...

Nothing has been recently installed except for the re-installed service pack. Error occurred while system was attempting to load .dlls (MS proprietary application regsvr32.exe from SP6a).
