Service Packs for Installation

By depster ·
I have always wondered, is there an easier way to install service packs? Could you copy the CD to and HD and then install the SP to the HD, changing the files on the hard drive, then reburn, and install.

there is a text file ini or inf that has a one line of text. you have to copy that line of text from the cd and add it to the file (same name) under the windows instalation directory and ta-da it will work.

Try Scripting or Imaging

You left alot out on what you are trying to accomplish here, it looks like you want a better way to Service Pack several machines.
In a Client\Server domain you can add the SP update to the clients logon script for easy deployment. If you use a workgroup you could email a .bat file to perform the SP upgrade. If you are deploying NEW machine with the same Hardware you can configure one machine with the required SP's and image it and copy to a CD, or Network share.
