if you computer is in the same domain as exchange you can not. If you are downloading to a PST then, go to the top for the folder list. "Personal folder. Right click on the folder and select properties. Clieck the advance buttom and them select the change password. IF the mailbox title says something like Outlook today and you connect to change witrh you domain user account you can not set a password. you can create a personal folder (PST) and move all important domcumant to it, and set a password for the PST , as described from above.
Hope this helps....

If you have a domain account, outlook is probably set to use NT Authentication. Which means that when you log on to your system, you have permissions to get to your mailbox. If you still want to log into it everytime you open it go to
Tools -- email accounts -- view or change, click next -- highlight account, click change -- click more settings -- click advanced -- select the password policy that you want.
Of course, this is only if you are on an exchange server.
Or
If it is a personal Folder, right click on the top level folder, select properties, go to advanced, and change password button.
