Set keyboard driver using DOS for WinXP

by jenniferlucca . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

Following system changes, the keyboard is currently recognized by the BIOS and DOS but not by WinXP.

The Num Lock is on during the BIOS but not at WinXP login.

The original keyboard and mouse were wireless Logitech. I have since tried PS/2, USB, and also USB w/ PS/2 adapter all with no success.

I do not want to have to repair or reinstall WinXP. I am more concerned with having a functioning keyboard than troubleshooting the mouse at this time.

Will making the following changes to the keyboard driver settings via DOS be retained when trying to boot into WinXP? Or are these changes retained in DOS only?

From DOS C:\

set keyboard = kbdclass

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide.
