Set printer in active directory

By debstiker ·
Is there a way to set a users default printer - or give a user a list of printers to choose from - through Active Directory or a login script?

method in vbscript

You can set a printer search start point (i.e. the OU of your print server) in a GPO in the user configuration in Control Panel|Printers. The printer mapping script I use is this:

Dim onet

Set onet = CreateObject("WScript.Network")

onet.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\server\printershare", "HP LaserJet 2100"

onet.SetDefaultPrinter "\\server\printershare"
