Setting a VPN

How can I play a game with a friend. on LAN, via Internet (I don`t have 2 PC`s), using, I presume, VPN? Please, give me a step-by-step procedure (software, installation, instructions). Thanks

Setting a VPN

In Windows 98:
You'll need to know the IP address of the fastest computer of the 2.

VPN is in Control Panel, Add/Remove Prgrams, Windows Setup, Communications at the bottom of the list. Click the box, OK your way out, restart when asked.

Setup one machine as a dial-up server (faster one):
double-click My Computer, Dial-Up Networking
click Connections Menu
click Dial-Up Server
select Allow Caller Access, click OK

Setup connection for other machine (slower one):
double-click My Computer, Dial-Up Networking
double-click Make New Connection
give it a name, select VPN device from pull-down, click Next
enter IP address of server machine you setup in previous step, click Next
Click Finish
right-click on new connection, select Properties
click on Server Types
select the protocols you want to use
click OK

Double click your new connection and type in password if you specified one. Use it just like you were dialing over a modem to the Internet.

Thanks for the answer, but could you be more specific?
Let`s say I want to play Unreal Tournament on LAN via VPN. My friend goes in Internet. He gets an IP from the ISP. Where is located this information? He phones me to tell his IP. What next? Do I have to install a protocol (such as TCP-IP) in order to play the game?
Of course, the points are yours, anyway. But, please help me again to set things properly, from start to finish.
Thanks again, Alexandru Gradinaru

Playing game with your friend
1) Yahoo: games --> choose a room with password protection or wait for your friend.
2) Microsoft: gamezone.
3) Other game zone;
The easiest way is to use the resource available.
