Setting and Isolating Time and Time Zone on Solaris 8

by mlw11743 . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

We are testing our software’s compatibility with the new Daylight Saving dates.

We need to be able to set and reset clock time throughout our test process.

There are other users on the system.

Where a dedicated system is not possible, nor is working through the night, I’m looking to see if there is a way to set the clock for one user.

I know I can set the time zone for one user: TZ=EST5 and that’s part of our test procedures.

What I’m looking for is a way to set the clock repeatedly to 1:55AM, run some scripts as we move into DST, and then set it back again.

And not affect anyone else using the system.

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks in advance.

Michael
