Setting Environment Variables at Login

By Bobby Gillette ·
Is there any possible way to set an environment variable (in this case a tns_admin server for Oracle name resolution) via a login script? If I run the SET command from a command prompt the variable is set without a hitch. If I try to run the commandfrom a login script it fails to make the change.

Any help would be appreciated...

You didn't say which OS you're using, but try MSCONFIG and goto the Environment tab.

Doesn't help from a login script... can't rely on users to enter this information
