I am trying to add our office network to the single domain master model of our corporation network. For the past few years our office has not been able to take part of the overall network since we have not had a server. Everyone was connected via a workgroup. We now have a server and wish to be added to our company infrastructure.
I’m assuming what needs to be done is install the new server as a primary domain controller for a new domain that will contain all our office PCs and resources. Then it is to my understanding that the new domain will have to trust the master domain which has all the user accounts for the entire corporation.
I installed Windows 2000 server and setup Active Directory. I created a new domain and everything seems to be setup right. I then thought that all I had to do next was create a one way trust with the master domain, but it says it can’t connect to the domain i’m trying to trust.
Does the master domain have to first trust our new domain?? or am i missing a step or two??
Please advise…. thank you.
