Setting Up a LAN using windows 98se

Hi, I will be setting up a LAN but i have questions regarding how to setup a LAN. Actually i have 10 pc to be network (9 workstation plus 1 Server).

assuming i have installed windows 98 and connected the LAN Card to all computers, what’s the next thing that i should do? Of the 10 computers how will i assign which computer will be the server? Please help.

By the way what is the function of a server i’m really confused about this, what is the difference between a server and a workstation.
