Hi all,
I have recently set up a Primary DC running Server 2003, this DC has two network sockets, one is plugged into the main network, and the other goes to a switch where a further 4 PCs are set up. I have run dcpromo and set up the child domain of stu.originaldomain.co.uk, I have also enabled routing so that all PCs in this network can use the internet.
One of the PCs attached to the switch is also running windows server 2003 and exchange server 2003, when setting up exchange I chose the option that this is a second exchange server. A two way trust exists between domains.
I can now send emails from outlook clients through this 2nd exchange server (from within the child domain), but they sending as “account@originaldomain.co.uk”. The problem is I cannot reply… I created the account in AD users and computers for the child domain and i expected it to send as account@stu.originaldomain.com but it doesn’t, (The outlook client is connected to my 2nd exchange server).
Sending as @originaldomain.co.uk isn’t a problem, but I need to be able to receive mails!
Also, I can ping from within the child domain to any computer on the main domain and ping the main router and exchange box, but I can’t ping the other way (tracert just times out). I’m guessing there is some kind of configuration I need to set up (DNS possibly) but my knowledge isn’t great as this is the first exchange box I have set up.
If anyone can offer any pointers or online resources (I have searched alot but found nothing), I’d be very greatful… The main idea of having this child domain is to be able to test different spam soloutions on an exchange box so it is vital I am using the 2nd exchange box.
Thanks in advance…
Stuart.
