Setting up home network with Windstream DSL

By dstaehr ·
I am supporting a residential client using Windstream DSL. The setup involves a Speedstream 4200 dsl modem/router, a Linksys WRT54G Wireless broadband router connecting two computers, one via ethernet cable the other via wireless connection. What is the best way to set this connection up. I cannot get connectivity when I hook up the Linksys WRT54G to the Speedstream 4200. I have tried setting up the Speedstream 4200 in bridge mode and letting the Linksys WRT54G act as the DHCP server.

Speedstream connecting directly to the Outside Line and the Linksys being connected by the Uplink Port to the Speedstream.

The with a Hard Wired Computer connected directly to the Linksys open the Browser of choice and enter the Linksys HTTP address and setup the Router and WiFi connection. Also enable whatever WiFi Security that you are using to prevent unauthorised access tot he Internet connection or theft of Data on the Internal LAN and exit saving the changes that you have made.

Once this is finished you should have WiFi Access and a direct connection to the Internet.
