Setting-up RAS to use a router

By Ted Hably ·
I want to set-up a VPN on an NT4.0 server using PPTP and DSL ISP access via a router connected to the LAN. How do I set-up RAS to use the router as my connection?

You can do VPNs on a router, with the right (Cisco) router. Otherwise, on the server, you'll have to add the RAS services, and then add the point-to-point tunneling protocol (all under the Network Properties). After you reboot and reapply your service pack, add the VPN logicalconnections in the RAS services (again, under Network Services). You may or may not need a modem for a temporary configuration device.
