Setting up the Apache server for PHP

By mensa70 ·
I'm trying to setup an Apache server for windows according to a book about PHP and MySQL. This is for development/learning on the local machine. When I try to add a line to the httpd.conf file, I get an out of memory error? Can't seem to get past this initial step.

php by default may not be support mysql.
create a file on your web server (ex. test.php)with the following text in it.
<?php
phpinfo();
?>

open that file from a web browser and look for "configure command" in the column next to it .. if mysql is supported you will see "--with-mysql"
if that is not there you need to recompile php to support it.
