setting up VPN

By Exp ·
Hi,

I need help in setting up VPN. My host site is using a Linksys RV08 with built-in VPN, firewall etc. The client site could be mobile user using laptop from anywhere using dailup straight thru or behind a NAT router. The problem is that the host site is connected to internet using ADSL with dynamic IP and so as the clients. I have tried to set up VPN using different config within the Linksys router and SSH Sentinel VPN software on the client PC. But it won't work. I have successfully set up a PPTP and work fine. But I thought VPN with IPSec is more secure.
If anyone has any suggestion on software client or config please let me know.
PS I can not change any hardware set up eg don't tell me to buy another router etc.

Thanks

Always been a pain in the butt to get to work right.

Whats the error code that pops up on the clients when they try to connect? and what authentication package do they use? [and what is providing authentication? If you have a RRAS server or IAS Server providing authentication, you probably have to open up some ports on the router to the server e.g. port 1723 TCP for RRAS and GRE 47.

since I am new to VPN I did some search on Google etc. I found SSH Sentinel seems to ok. Host site have Linksys RV08 router with built-in VPN and firewall. And about 15~20 workstations all running XP or XPP. Server is a Win2003. Do I have to set up anything on the server?
