Problem with sounds in Aol and Windows. Reinstall Aol, sounds work. When I shut PC down, time is off and the sounds in Windows and Aol are not there. Could this be a new battery is needed? No warning sounds about low battery.

It sounds to me like your CMOS battery is dead/dying. If you can’t replace this yourself, just take your computer to a local computer shop (Best buy/Frye’s/CompUSA) and have them replace the battery.

      Barbara,
This really does not sound like a battery problem… well yes and no. The sound problem should have nothing to do with a dead battery. The time setting does. Whenever you reboot is the time setting back to the same incorrect time each time? When you reinstall aol does the windows sound also come back? How old is the computer? You could have two coincidental problems, the battery for the time and something else for the sound. Do not spend 50 to 80 bucks to have some store tech replace your battery for you and probably find something else “wrong”. The Battery is easy to replace ask a friend for help if you have to. Unless aol software is making changes to your cmos setup then it’s not a battery problem. Which version of AOL is this? I would (1) make sure your drive is virus free with the latest updated virus scanner. (2) call or email AOL tech support with your problem.
