Setup a new printer

By gizroc ·
I have a local printer which I'd like to share with two other desks in my office. We are all connected to a base-wide LAN via CAT5e. Please explain how I should go about this. Thank You

Setup a new printer

In Windows2000, you would make sure that File and Printer sharing is enabled ( Right click on the Printer and normal-click on Sharing -- type in a share name --> Apply and a hand should be drawn under the printer). If File and printer sharing is not enabled, then you will not get the Sharing... -- then enable it).

On the other two computers, go to control panel --> Printers --> Add new printer and point the install to the Network printer at the first computer. \\win2000computername\sharedprintername

You should be able to print from the other two computers. If the other two computers are using a different OS, you may need to install those drivers at the local workstation, but you can still point the printer port to the win2000 printer.
